“The Universe Within” presents a series of windows into the relationship that may serve to nurture this sense of Unity between the individual human and the Universe at large. These windows function as tunnels that characterize the seven principle energy centres of the human body according to the ancient Vedic practice largely known today as Yoga. While Yoga has come to be known in the West as a category of fitness recognized for its myriad physiological benefits, it is originally a Sanskrit word which can be defined as union. It represents a holistic approach to the spiritual, mental and physical components of the human being, advocating for the quieting of the self to allow union with a greater life force shared by all. In fact, in terms of astronomy and astrology, the word yoga was used to denote the 13 degrees and 20 minutes of space in which the Sun and Moon unify as they traverse the sky during a lunar eclipse. Characteristic of traditional mystic practices seeking an universal feeling of Truth, this notion of Unity is best understood as an experience, as opposed to something capable of being expressed in the rational limitations of words.
